Right so here’ s a metformin hcl 850 mg side effects little more serious article because it’s been a while. Who never heard of the famous “gotta eat 5 fruits and vegetables per day” to be healthy and in good shape?
So ok, 5 fruits and vegetables… but technically what does that represent? If you think about it, there are many kinds of both products classified by families, taste, etc… I mean let’s face it; I’m already glad to have some “green” on my dish such as broccoli, spinach or even a salad as a starter. So does that count as one portion?
After a few investigations, it seems that it’s indeed not THAT simple. See it for yourself:
One portion out of 5 is approximately equaled to 100gr of vegetables and 80gr of fruits. However, one has to pay attention to the fact that not all fruits contain the same amount of glucose (in other word, sugar). Therefore, we have to remember the following:
1 fresh fruit = 1 dry fruit = 1 cooked fruit = 3-4 spoons of mashed fruits (without sugar) = 2 freshly pressed orange (without sugar).
That being said, it is recommended not to eat/drink more than 3 portion of fruit per day. The “problem” of fruit is that it contains fructose and if you get too much of that, it could generate unwanted weight gain. At the end of the day, it’s really one fruit per meal.
As for the vegetables, specialists advise that we eat them for lunch and dinner. Soup is best in the evening because it is obviously rich in vitamins and ideal for a light meal (try to cut down the butter, salt or cream).
Vegetables COULD also replace fruits. But bare in mind that the key here is to have a diversify meal. Small tip if you’re planning to eat more vegetables, cook them with steam, not deep fried (bye bye beloved tempura… *sob*). And like fruits, pay attention to the level of sugar as not all vegetables are equal here. Carrots tend to be sweet for instance.
What’s true for vegetables would not necessarily work the other way around. If you do not like vegetables, it is NOT really advised to eat only fruits.
Finally, don’t forget that we all have different bodies with different metabolism and different lifestyles with more or less activities. So at the end, it’s really up to you to dose the proper amount of vegetables/fruits you’ll eat.
